This is the story of what happens when best laid plans fail, and a vengeful woman is forced to find her own way once again. A bond broken, trust shattered, and too many lies to keep track of find Marc and Lily all out of plans and running out of time. Can they find their way back to each other before trouble finds them first, or is it really the end of their journey?

If this NOVEL were a MOVIE, it would have an R rating from the MPAA. Contains: Violence, Grisly Images, Strong Language, Nudity, and Graphic Sexual Content.

Shock wasn’t a big enough word to describe how Lily felt, looking up to find Marc staring at her in that ballroom. Anyone else. It literally could have been anyone else – her father, Mickey Mouse, Hitler, and she would’ve been less surprised. Marcelle De Sant wasn’t real, anymore. He was a figment of her imagination, something that usually only appeared late at night, when she was alone and missing a more dangerous time in her life.

Besides, wasn’t he supposed to be in Brazil!? Wasn’t he … anywhere she wasn’t?

Wasn’t he not quite this good looking!? It’s unfair that such a dick can be so good looking.

Dancing with her was bad enough. They’d fought, as had always been in their nature, but it wasn’t the same. She hated him. He’d lied to her, and he’d manipulated her, and he’d abandoned her. Told her she wasn’t good enough, then told her to go home. She loathed him.

And yet, his arm was around her, and his eyes were so blue, and she’d missed him so much.

Rat bastard.

And of course, along with fighting, their other old friend made an appearance – bad luck. Next thing Lily had known, she was being dragged upstairs and shoved into a bedroom. There was arguing. There was kissing.

So really, it was just like old times.

The bedroom door swung open, but she barely registered it. Marc’s hands were moving over her body, pressing down on her breasts. He moved one lower, sliding it over her hip and around to her ass, pulling her away from the wall and into himself. She ran her hands down his chest and worked them under his jacket, smoothing around to his back. She bit into his bottom lip and that earned her yet another groan, followed by his tongue filling her mouth.

Acting a part, acting a part. Not enjoying this at all. Nope, nooooope.

People were in the room. Someone was barking questions in Spanish. Marc ignored them, and the hand on her ass suddenly moved and grabbed her thigh, yanking her leg up to his hip. She made a big show of pulling his belt apart, all while his mouth moved down her neck, leaving sloppy wet kisses in its wake. His hands were back at her chest and buttons flew as he yanked open her blouse. One hand went down the top of her tank, and suddenly Lily didn’t care that they had an audience. Marc was touching her again, that was all that mattered.

Excuse me!” a voice barked out. “You cannot be in here. You go now.”

Marc’s free hand began rooting around in his pocket, and he pulled out a handful of pesos. He held them out to the nearest guard.

“We go in twenty minutes,” he panted, shoving the money into an open hand.

“Twenty minutes? Jesus, that’s disappointing,” she gave a husky laugh, then moaned when the hand on her breast squeezed.

“Alright. Twenty minutes. We come back, and you leave room,” they were warned.

But neither of them could answer, as their mouths met again and their tongues moved against each other.

Her mind had registered the length of time since he’d left her, but her body didn’t notice it at all. It recognized his touch as if they’d been together just the day before; like no time had passed. It made it all even worse. Her brain had done a good job of pretending it was over him. But her body had longed for him for six months. Had missed him. Hadn’t understood why he’d left.

That thought brought her to her senses, and Lily abruptly shoved him away. They were both breathing hard. Marc’s pants were undone and Lily’s blouse was hanging open. Her matte red lipstick was smeared across his mouth and chin. She took a deep breath and smoothed her hands over her hips.

“Okay, we need to figure this out, right now,” she told him.

“Alright,” he agreed, though he seemed a little dazed. She resisted the urge to smirk.

“I didn’t come here for you. Nothing I’ve done in the last six months has been for you,” she lied. “You’re not a part of this. You were never a part of this, except for a couple weeks in Africa. I will not let you ruin this for me again, De Sant. When we walk out of this room, you’re going to leave the house, and I’m going to finish this job.”

Marc’s daze wore off and he glared as he put his pants back to rights.

“I’ve been a part of this since the moment you opened that safe, and you know it. What do you think I’ve been doing this whole time? Fucking vacationing? I’m not exactly getting paid for this shit.”

“No one asked you to do any of this shit. You just took it upon yourself. You just ran away and decided to solve a problem that wasn’t even any of your business.”

He flinched and Lily smiled.

“I thought you’d understand,” he grumbled, glancing in a mirror that was behind her. He yanked off his bow tie and used it to wipe at lipstick around his mouth.

“Then you thought wrong.”

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

“You and I? We make the best ‘big mistakes’, ever.” Marc

Out Of Plans picks up six months after the most upsetting ending of the history of book endings haha. Liliana (Lily) Brewster was upset and angry at Marc and she was bound to train and be better than he was. Her goal was to train and be good enough to go avenge the death of her sister. Of course she wished she finds Marc as well but pretended that he didn’t matter to her anymore. She tried to blackout his memory and forgets about him. Little did Lily know that her destiny was bound to come crashing right back to him and back to where they were before fighting for their life together. However this time around she was smarter and stronger.

“I was always stronger than you, you just never realized it.” Lily

Marcelle (Marc) Da Sant is trying to do what he thinks is the best; he is in a mission to do something to protect the woman he loved but he let her go. He was bound to keep her safe but what Marc didn’t realized and it sure took him long enough to realized was; this woman he fell for was stubborn and was never going to stop fighting for what she wanted. Marc was very impressed when he crossed path with Lily and this time he wanted to fight for her and keep her. However; Lily wasn’t giving in so easy. Some people may say she was too harsh on him but I thought she was badass and he had to get it in his head they were both a team and they had to trust each other and believe in each other to make things work.

“Now that he knew she wasn’t living a peaceful normal life…he couldn’t bear the thought of her being out of his sight.” Marc

Kingsley Law; what can I say he was amazing. Lily reached out to him for help and he was there always. He was a badass assassin and I would have given anything to fall head over heels for him but my heart was and had always been with Marc. I felt horrible that he and Lily would have never made a couple they were awesome together as a team; as best friends who understood and could read each other’s thoughts. But her heart was Marc’s and I loved that.

This book was packed with action; suspense; it was sexy full of funny moments just plain awesome. These three found themselves again being chased by killers running for their lives and it’s a total roller coaster ride. They finally run out of plan and have to just go with it and follow their instincts but this time it was Lily’s call; oh boy did I loved how these two man would give their lives for this woman. And what Lily did at the end wow left me breathless and speechless. I love a badass heroine and who doesn’t like two hot sexy assassins to go with it?! Hmmm YES PLEASE!. Defiantly recommend this amazing book to all my friends. And I just wish that we get Kingsley’s book he needs a badass heroine for himself as well. He is just amazing. You hear me Stylo??!! *hint*hint* we want Law’s book.

“They were something better. Something unified. Something unbreakable.” Lily

Best Laid Plans (The Mercenaries, #1) by Stylo FantomeOut of Plans (The Mercenaries, #2) by Stylo Fantome

 ★4.5 Action Packed Stars★

“Kingsley Law: What you want and what you need are often two very different things, darling. Learn the difference and remember it.-Kingsley”

Out of Plans is the action packed second book in The Mercenaries Series. At the conclusion of Best Laid Plans, Marc left Lily with a note and Lily formulated a plan to continue her quest for vengeance! Can she really move forward without Marc by her side?

“Kingsley Law was a devastatingly handsome man. A quick wit and a sharp smile. Trim physique, and always dressed in stylish suits.”

Lily doesn’t waste any time jumping back into the action. She runs to Kingsley where she receives training, friendship, and even love! With a backpack full of supplies and a plethora of “Kingsley’s Laws” in her bank of tricks, she takes off to achieve vengeance.

“Whatever it takes. You train me, and I’ll help you in anyway you want, with anything.”-Lily

Unbeknownst to Lily, Marc has also been on “the quest”. Although he had hoped Lily would return to a “quiet life”, in his heart he is hurting over giving her up. When Lily and Marc intercept, the passion and fury between the two is reignited!

“Leaving her had been hard enough. But he’d done it for a reason, It meant something. By getting vengeance for her, he was making leaving her worthwhile.”

Marc and Lily must come to terms with the mission and their relationship. Only one thing is certain between the two, physical action is the only “love language” they speak fluently to each other. If they aren’t punching, biting, and kicking each other, they are happy to pin the other down for a raw and passionate “romp” in the jungle!

“Her mind had registered the length of time since he’d left her, but her body didn’t notice it at all. It recognized his touch as if they’d been together just the day before; like no time had passed.”

“Kingsley’s Law: Few things can ruin your plans quite like anger. Love, fear, sadness, all can motivate, but anger? Anger will fuck things right up.”

As Marc comes to terms with the mistakes he has made, Lily reasserts herself as a strong force to be reckoned with. Kingslsey’s presence only adds fuel to the fire. Marc is quite jealous of the friendship between Lily and the Brit and Kingsley is quite happy to exacerbate the situation at every opportunity known to man! However, the love between Marc and Lily is undeniable. Although it takes the two a rather long time to acknowledge it, it is a very active part of the story and drives the plot with meticulous precision!

“That would explain why you’re so tense, sweetheart. Like a guitar string, your body is begging me to pluck out a tune.”

“It was a tidal wave, something she couldn’t stop, something that was swallowing her whole.”

“You and I? We make the best “big mistakes” ever.”-Marc

Told in multiple POV, Out of Plans offers an action packed romance full of intrigue, suspense, and mystery. The characters are well developed and the dynamics between them keep you engaged with every page turn. Although it is evident that Marc and Lily are the prominent characters in the series, Kingsley plays a valuable role in the plot and adds an alternate plot line in which I am hoping Stylo will continue to explore! The pacing in the story was well matched with the first read and the story arc was well planned and executed brilliantly! The combination of the witty dialogue and passionate physical connection between Lily and Marc kept me engaged the entire read!

“Only porn stars and people fresh out of prison had sex like that.”

“She and Kingsley were partners, for sure. But she and Marc…they were something else, and that something involved sharing a bed.”

“We weren’t done six months ago. We won’t be done tomorrow.”-Marc

Overall, Out of Plans is another winning read for action/romance lovers! Personally, I have discovered through this series (and some other recent reads) that this is by far my favorite type of read to indulge in. I am a huge fan of Stylo Fantome’s work! She has an easy writing style that flows naturally through each page. Her combination of strong heroines and “sexy alpha males” will always keep me coming back for more! I simply cannot get enough! This is another MUST READ NOW series to devour and enjoy!

“Kingsley’s Law: Work with what you’ve got, and make it count.”
