~5 Unforgettable Stars~
Tyrant is the second book in the Scars of Wraiths Series. It takes you on a ride that you will never forget. The passion and fury that dwell within the Scars are like no other mystical race. Every moment is packed with action, suspense, mystery, and love. Tyrant is not a stand-alone. It is the second prequel in the series (before Take) and the series absolutely must be read in order.
“Torture spoke volumes, and I knew it all too well. Never again would I put faith in anyone-period.”
Rayne has spent her life in pain. Tortured by her husband in a lab, she has maintained control by hiding her abilities and merely existing. After helping Kilter escape in (which happened in Stygian), her life is changed forever.
“I’d gone back for her.”
A broody “alpha male” Kilter is drawn to the waif Rayne. After she risked it all to help him escape, he is willing to defy his leader and battle the world to make her safe. Rayne and Kilter make a unique pair. Both broken and haunted by demons of their past; they must make a way together.
In addition to the development of Kilter and Rayne, in true Nashoda fashion, the supporting characters in this book play a huge role in the plot development. Tensions are rising as we discover more of the history between Walderon and Delara.
“My Delara. The woman I couldn’t have but wanted. The only woman who could touch me without freaking out. The woman I didn’t deserve and would destroy if we were ever together again.”
Additionally, another Scar has found a love of the forbidden fruit with a vampire.
“It was undeniable. Didn’t matter that she was a vampire, and I was a Scar. Love had no boundaries.”
As the characters are interspersed, the plot thickens, and the action continues to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Told in multiple POV, Tyrant is another home run for Ms. Rose. I lavish in every word that this author writes. The characters are complex, and the stakes are high as they try to survive. The passion between Rayne and Kilter was both tender and dynamic. Additionally, my love and concern for the entire crew of characters have me 100% invested. The story arc is well developed and quite complex. As a reader, I sometimes feel intimidated when I see a glossary is attached to a book, and yet, this series is so well constructed that each element is crystal clear and I rarely even had to peek. This is one world that will heighten your senses and melt your heart.
Overall, Tyrant was a fantastic read. Paranormal romance fans MUST check this series out. I applaud this author for her mad creative writing skills. If Ms. Rose is writing, I am reading. Everytime!
