“The heart hides itself behind the mind.”
Weston Turner lost hope at love since little, after his father left him and his family. Wes promised to never let anyone in again. His heart was deeply broken but that didn’t stopped him from working towards a better life. He found the best friendship anyone could have when he meets Connor Drake in seventh grace;once they found each other they became inseparable.
“Good feels out of reach,” I murmured. “I’ve had good before and I lost it.”
I loved how these two friends took care of each other and understood what each needed to survive. Wes understood the pressure Connor had to go though with a demanding family. Connor knew how broken Wes was and was there for him when no one was.
“Something’s fucking wrong with me. Broken or missing. Whatever it is, you have it.”
Autumn Caldwell’s last break up had her second guessing new relationships. However; soon she finds hope in a new guy. She finds Connor charming and soon they both start a great relationship except she also finds the friendship with Wes so comfortable that she starts questioning her feelings.
“The air around Weston was always electric. A crackling force field that kept people away, fueled by his barbed tongue and acid wit. If I reached through it to touch him, no doubt I’d be shocked. It would hurt like hell.”
I have to say Autumn was not my favorite in this book; I found myself not happy with some of the choices she made. Well in fact I was upset at Wes and Connor as well; I understood where they were coming from but I still struggled accepting some of their decisions. Overall; I feel all kinds of feelings in this story. There was definitely angst like lots. I was happy but yet frustrated haha. I had lots of butterflies towards an specific couple. The ending really caught me by surprise but I loved it. But most of all I absolutely adored Wesley and Connor’s friendship. Truly looking forward to see how this roller-caster will end on book two of this duet.

📖#currentlyreading📖 ✨ #BringDownTheStars 💫 by #EmmaScott 🦋 Expected publication: August 20th 📚Blurb📚 I fell for Connor Drake. I didn’t want to; I fought against it, but I fell in love with him anyway. With his words. With his poetry. With him. The gentleness and beauty of his soul that speaks directly to mine. He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow. I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way, and yet there’s electricity in the air between us. The thorny barbs Weston wraps around himself can’t keep me away. But the more time I spend with these men, the more tangled and confused my emotions become. When they both sign up for the Army Reserves during a time of increasing strife in the Middle East, I fear I’ll never unravel my own heart that sometimes feels as if it will tear straight down the middle…for both of them. ********** Bring Down the Stars is an emotional, angst-filled novel of unrequited love by bestselling author, Emma Scott, and is inspired by the classic tale, Cyrano de Bergerac.
