CD Reiss is a New York Times, USA Today, and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did give her a big enough ego to try her hand at books.

She’s been nicknamed the “Shakespeare of Smut,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Dissident:

Rising Democratic star Caroline Gerard is reluctant to fall in love again after losing her husband. Can Republican playboy Jack McIntyre break through her grief and capture her heart? Told mostly in flashback and set against a chilling fascist backdrop, Dissident is a rollercoaster ride of political intrigue, passionate romance, and undying love.

Conscience:

Caroline faces the biggest challenge of her life when confronted with the cruelty and sadism of her captors at The Fed. Hope fades quickly, even as she holds onto her one last bit of sanity and her unshakable belief that her husband will rescue her. But is that faith just a mirage?

Sojourn:

Reeling from her experiences at The Fed, Caroline tries to forge ahead and create a new identity. But that’s hard to do with the ghosts of the past constantly whispering in her ear. She is determined to find the rebellion and move on with her life, but what will she find when she arrives there?

When they reached the ballroom he locked the door behind him. Jack walked over to one of the decorative side tables and produced a box wrapped with red paper.

“Merry Christmas,” he said, handing it to her.

“Why didn’t you give this to me earlier?”

“I needed us to be in private when I gave it to you. Open it.”

It had to be jewelry. “I told you not to get me anything outlandish.”

“I don’t have to listen to you. Even if we are married.”

Caroline ripped the paper away. She opened the box and was greeted with an exquisite emerald necklace. Fringe design, with each individual green stone framed by tiny sparkling diamonds. The necklace was dripping with jewels from end to end. It looked like a prop from an eighties soap opera except it was stunningly, gorgeously real. She wouldn’t even want to speculate about the cost. “Jack-”

“Do you like it?” he asked.

She was convinced he only gave her presents just to gauge her reaction. To see how long she’d gawk at them before starting to gush. Caroline wasn’t refined when it came to her spontaneous responses to him. Did she like the necklace? A rather silly question since it was one of the most amazing things she’d ever seen.

“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.

He took the box from her. “I didn’t recall seeing you with anything other than sapphires or diamonds. We’re going to have to do something about that.”

She could only imagine the media attention they’d get if she paraded around wearing a necklace that cost more than what the average household made in a year, several times over. Sometimes her husband forgot that he was running for governor, not auditioning for the cast of Falcon Crest. “It’s too much, Jack. It’s so…elaborate. I can’t wear that in public.”

He smiled. “Then don’t. Wear it just for me.”

“Just around the house? Like, when I’m watching baseball and stuff?”

He laughed. “‘And stuff’?”

Her language was less polished than usual. “I’ve had a ton to drink today. I can’t always be articulate.”

Jack pulled her to him, leaning toward her ear. “How about you wear the necklace and nothing else, and grant your husband a dance?”

Now she saw where he was going. “A nice Christmas waltz?” Caroline suggested. “Fully clothed, of course. We must always be proper.”

He tugged at her sweater. “Try again.”

His romantic and seductive gestures were sweet, but impractical. “It’s cold in here.”

“I’ll turn the heat up.”

“What about you?”

“We don’t need to worry about me.”

Caroline sighed. “I meant your clothes.”

He unbuttoned her pants. “They’re staying on.”

That seemed unfair. “I’m not sure I like this power differential.”

Jack ran a finger under the waistband of her panties. “I think you do,” he whispered.

She shivered when he pulled her pants and underwear down. “Will there be music? Or are you going to parade my naked self around the ballroom in silence?”

“I picked a special song for the two of us.” He grinned. “And you won’t be naked. You’ll be wearing the necklace.”

She ran her hands down the front of his shirt, imagining how it would feel for her bare chest to rub against it while they danced. “You will undress at some point, right?”

He kissed her again. “Upstairs. Let me do this,” he said softly, stripping off the rest of her clothes, even her bra and panties. He laughed when he reached her socks. “Are those dinosaurs?”

Caroline liked wearing fun socks. She didn’t care if they were juvenile. She’d get away with it for as long as she could. “They’re wearing little Santa hats.”

Though he’d started to yank them down, he hastily pulled them back up to below her knees. “These can stay on. But only because they make you look so damn adorable.”

She tried not to think of what she’d look like wearing nothing but whimsical dinosaur knee socks and an emerald necklace, but the expression on his face indicated that Jack didn’t particularly care. He kissed her deeply before retrieving the necklace. He took his time placing it around her neck, then stepped back to look at her. It took all her effort not to blush. She hadn’t anticipated the night ending this way.

Jack tipped her chin up. “You look fucking marvelous.”

Her face had to be as red as a cherry. “Even with the socks?”
He brushed a stray hair out of her face. “There are few things sexier than a woman wearing an emerald necklace and dinosaur socks…and nothing else.”

~Elizabeth’s 5 STAR Review~

“I’m not leaving you alone.”~Lambo

description

The Rules is the second book in the Off-Limits Series. In The Lessons (the first book in the series), we met Ryan’s best friend Lambo and Ryan’s sister Ainsley. What happens when a forbidden fling transforms into a heart stopping, swoon worthy, sexually charged romance story? The Rules! This stand alone read is guaranteed to make you laugh, cry, and swoon. Get your kindles ready now! Lambo and Ainsley’s story is one that you will not want to miss.

description

“Trust me. This is gonna be fun. For both of us.”~Lambo

Ainsley is a complex character. She lives with her loving older brother Ryan and his girlfriend Natalie. Although Ains appears to have it all together, she is battling the demons of her past and lives with bipolar disorder. Ryan has done his best to keep Ainsley healthy and happy. Although her brother’s love is significant in her life, she is missing a few important things! Ainsley needs sex, love and romance! What girl doesn’t? Only one thing can truly fill the void in her life. Who cares if it’s her older brother’s best friend?

description

Lambo is a successful “All American” Sex God! He is confident, cocky, and quick witted. He has never had difficulty “sealing the deal”.

description

While partying it up in college one night, he shares a kiss with a hot young party goer. She was just “that hot”! How was he supposed to know she was only sixteen AND Ryan’s little sister? Obviously, that scenario did not end well! Over the next couple of years, he does everything in his power to avoid the little vixen. However, it’s a difficult task when it’s Ryan’s little sister! After a few years have passed, Ainsley and Lambo will finally have the opportunity to try that scenario out again! When the whole gang travels to Vegas for a quick getaway, Ainsley and Lambo are brought together and all of “the rules” are broken!

“He was hot. He was an excellent kisser and finally, and perhaps most importantly, I was pretty sure he could close the deal.”~Ainsley

Lambo and Ainsley don’t waste any time rekindling the fire! The attraction that began years ago, at that college party, was only the catalyst to what promises to be a mind-blowing life altering experience for them both. These unlikely characters form a tender bond that begins with friendship, sensuality, and then transforms into love. The road to happiness is not a smooth ride for these two. However, it is full of humor and lasting love!

“Fuck, Ains, your pussy is like fucking magic or something.”~Lambo

description

Told in dual POV, The Rules is a definite crowd pleaser. The characters are complex and well developed throughout the read. The weighty subject matter is craftily paired with humor and an over abundance of steam. I genuinely didn’t know if I should laugh or cry and, at times, I found myself doing both! The Rules is a true delight!

“All I could think about was when I was going to see her again.”~Lambo

What is most notable about the writing in this book is the easy flow of the text and the steady pacing of the plot. Additionally, I felt like the characterization was honest and consistent throughout. I was completely immersed in this story and I cannot wait to see what Ms. Brown does next!

description

“I don’t think you get it. I need you more than you need me.”~Lambo

description

Overall, The Rules is a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed every single second spent with these characters. Although I enjoyed The Lessons, Elizabeth Brown has truly made her mark with this book! I was simply blown away. This is a must read for contemporary romance lovers! Lambo and Ainsley’s story will stay with me forever!

**Enjoy a sneak peek into Law’s book!!!**

LAW.

Helicopters.

The sound of rotor blades haunted him. Sometimes, they were deafening. He could be standing in a crowded market in Bangkok, and all he would hear is womp womp womp.

Kingsley had joined the military at the tender age of seventeen. Some forged paperwork and a couple fake IDs, and he got right in – he knew punishment and discovery was inevitable, but none of it could be as bad as his home life. His step-father took discipline very seriously, and though Kingsley had been over six feet tall since Year Six, he was a string bean. Putting on weight was impossible for him, even though he ate like a horse. His step-father was a local boxing champion, a skill he liked to use often to prove his points.

The military could provide an income, schooling, a chance to travel, and most importantly – would teach him how to properly defend himself. How to make sure no one could ever treat him like that again.

What he’d never expected, though, was to take to it like a duck to water. He’d signed up for simple infantry, but showed such an aptitude for marksmanship, he was moved up through the ranks to sniper quickly. By the time it was discovered that he’d lied about his age, no one cared. He was too good at his job.

And not just shooting. He took to almost everything well. A childhood love for Aikido stayed with him, and he became a high degree black belt. His aptitude for stealth and his above average intellect caused his higher ups to push him towards the intelligence side of the military. He was introduced to the wonders that were SIS – formerly MI6. British intelligence and secret service.

He traveled all over the world. Received training – and gave it – at prestigious places like Quantico and Langley, did tours all over Europe.

Then the war on terror went to a whole new level. At the time, Kingsley had been part of an elite group of soldiers and special agents that were concentrating on gathering information about Al Qaeda. They were instructed to use “any means necessary” – a work ethic that would prove to stick with him later in life.

They were stationed in Afghanistan, operating primarily out of Camp Bastion. It was conjoined with an American military base, the famed Camp Leatherneck. There was a lot of good-natured rivalry going on between the two bases, and while Kingsley enjoyed the rowdy Americans, he kept to himself for the most part.

Obviously, there was an airfield at the base, and all manner of airplanes and jets were taking off, all the time. But for some reason, the helicopters stood out the most for him. He enjoyed helicopters, had received training on several models, and liked to fly in them.

One day, he returned from a fact finding mission and he’d been walking across the base when a Westland Lynx helicopter had flown low over him. A little unusual. He’d lifted his eyes to watch it, squinting in the setting sun, totally not paying attention to anything going on in front of him.

Watch it!

But the warning came too late. He rammed into someone, completely bowling them over. He came to a stop, looking down at his feet.

“Sorry.”

She was tiny. Even sprawled out on the ground, he could tell; being somewhat of a giant, he was a good judge of size. He bent down and held out his hand, and though she glared at him, she took it and pulled herself to her feet. He smiled to himself. The pixie in front of him would be lucky if she was even brushing five-foot-two.

“Do you always walk around without looking where you’re going?” she snapped, dusting herself off. She had an American accent and was wearing a white lab coat over faded green scrubs.

“Only when I feel like making new friends,” he teased. She glanced up at him, then went back to cleaning herself off.

“Pity it didn’t work this time.”

“Oh, I don’t know. I’m feeling very friendly.”

“Watch it, soldier. I outrank you.”

“Different countries, love, doesn’t count. We’re technically peers. Fancy a drink?”

No. Now get out of my way.”

He laughed as she pushed past him. She was little, but feisty. He wondered what her gig was, what had brought her to Afghanistan.

“The name’s Law!” he yelled out at her form as she hurried across the pavement.

“Good for you!”

“And you are!?”

“Someone who doesn’t want to be your friend!”

He laughed until she’d disappeared from sight.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
